Learner driver in Kildare caught speeding, tests positive for cocaine

An unaccompanied learner driver was caught travelling at a speed of 91km/h in a 60km/h zone by Naas Roads Policing Unit in Kildare this week.

Gardai from the Naas Road Policing Unit operated a speed check on the R415 Rathbride Kildare road.

The driver was tested for drugs and returned positive for cocaine.

The driver was then arrested for drug driving and their vehicle was impounded.

Fixed-charge penalty notices (FCPNs) were issued for speeding and learner driver offences.

A court appearance will follow for drug driving.
