Cash worth €80 and a bank card and gift card was stolen from a car parked at a second level school in Naas.

The court was told it was alleged that he broke into a number of vehicles at the Osprey Hotel, Naas, on April 11 last. A number of items were taken including a debit card which Sgt Dave Hanrahan said was “tapped” on two occasions.

Judge Desmond Zaidan sent the defendant for trial by jury at Naas Circuit Court on this allegation and five others.

He told the defendant that if an alibi forms any part of this defence he must provide details of this to the prosecuting authorities in advance.

The court was told that when the defendant was arrested  and charged by a garda on a separate occasion he made no reply.

The cort heard that the defendant and his partner were seen on CCTV in the school car park allegedly interfering with a car.

A purse with €80 in cash along with a credit card and a gift card was later found to be missing.

However the cort was also told that neither party was seen in the vehicle.

Judge Desmodn Zaidan commented that the defendant did not look well in court and appeared to weigh only about five stones, defending solicitor Tim Kennelly said he had been suffering from pneumonia.

The defendant was granted bail on this allegation on condition that he sign on at a garda station twice a week and that he stay away from Naas CBS.

The case was adjourned to July 23.
