Footpath needed near Kildare school school

The primary school in Sallins

An unofficial path is in place, says Kildare politician

A footpath linking the Willouise residential area in Sallins to the pedestrian bridge on the canal side of the road  is needed.

Cllr Bill Clear has asked Kildare County Council to cost the project.

He told a Naas Municipal district committee meeting that a desire line (an unofficial walking route) has developed since the bridge to the school was constructed.

However, KCC has indicated that there is no finding immediately available for this. It was also pointed out that  “there may also be land acquisition and significant retaining structures required to progress such a scheme.”

Cllr Clear replied land should be acquired from Waterways Ireland to make way for the work.
