New beer garden sought for County Kildare pub

The construction of a new beer garden at a County Kildare pub is being sought, a planning permission application shows.

Moderna Private Limited is seeking permission from Kildare County Council (KCC) to construct the development at Finlay's Bar and off-licence, which is located on the Dublin Road in Monasterevin.

According to the application, permission is being sought for the development of a 127.5 square metre rear single-storey ground floor ancillary function room, keg store and plant room with additional toilets, with a flat and hipped-roof incorporating two Velux windows and seven solar tubes.

The applicant also intends to construct an additional first floor 50m2 residential extension to the existing first floor accommodation over the existing ground floor, along with the construction of a new 102m2 beer garden with perimeter enclosure and a motorised pergola roof system to the west side.

In addition, the company is seeking to "renew and secure the existing outdoor seating area with new external furniture, with new works to existing structure façade consisting of two first floor windows and new ground floor shopfront, with signage to secondary entrance including retention of double doors to outdoor space, replacement sash hardwood windows to the ground floor east and west facades and the first floor east facade, with new covered bin store, plant room and rear yard".

Planning permission is also being sought in relation to all associated site works.

Furthermore, Moderna Private Ltd is applying for retention planning permission from KCC "for internal repair and renewal works to the existing first floor ancillary residential accommodation, consisting of new firestopping to existing first floor and reconfiguration of existing rear bedrooms from vacant storage space".

The date received is listed as March 20 last.

The submission-by and due dates are listed as April 23 and May 14 respectively.

Modern Private Ltd was established in April of 2021, the business information website SoloCheck.ie notes. 

The company specialises in "business and other management consultancy activities".
