How the new school will look
Tenders have been issued for a new post primary school in Co Kildare.
A new school building has been approved by Kildare County Council for St Farnan's Post Primary School, Prosperous.
Planning permission was granted to Kildare and Wicklow Education Training Board on December 13, 2024.
As part of the €15.3m project, the existing school building will be demolished.
A new two-storey 1,000-pupil will be built.
This will be comprised of a four classroom special education unit; multi-purpose hall; general purpose room; general classrooms; specialist classrooms; social areas; library; administration areas; service yards; external stores; covered storage areas for construction studies; toilet and changing facilities; and associated ancillary accommodation, all measuring 11,077.3 square metres.
The development also includes the provision of new site entrances; car parking areas; drop-off areas; new site boundary; new ballcourts; playing pitch; landscaped external areas; and all associated site works.
The architect for the project is McCarthy O'Hora and Associates.
