Kildare 1-24

Meath 1-14

The Kildare hurlers have been promoted to Division 1B of the Allianz Hurling League after a brilliant win over Meath.

The promotion is a momentous day for Kildare hurling and a huge representation of the work that has been put into the small ball game.

After keeping their opponents at arm’s length for much of the first half, Kildare kicked on five minutes before the break. They were led in chief by the brilliant David Qualter who hit four points in that spell.

The Lilies led 0-14 to 0-8 at half-time after a strong, if not slightly wasteful, showing.

After some back and forth in the early stages of the second half, a Jack Sheridan goal in the 51st minute helped settle the nerves for Kildare to all them to close this game out.

Best for The Lilies in this crunch tie was top-scorer Qualter, Simon Leacy, Daire Guerin, just to name a few.
