Kildare Gardaí are investigating after a car was stolen while it was being defrosted by its owner. 

The incident happened in the Millbank residential area in Sallins on Thursday, February 27 last. 

The owner of the orange Volkswagen Polo vehicle had started the engine outside his home at around 7am while he got his child ready for school. 

But when he returned to his vehicle, it was gone. 

Gardaí have appealed for information on the vehicle, which has a registration of "151 KE".

Naas Garda Station is investigating.
