David Qualter was delighted with his nine point return in Kildare's 2-25 to 0-17 win over Derry, but was more impressed with the overall team display and the level of tackling and the work-rate.
He stated that the team have worked hard on the tackling side of their game and the hard work is paying off with a fine spread of scores.
Qualter was sympathetic towards colleague Cathal Dowling, who was the was the only forward who failed to score, but complimented him on his work-rate.
"He sets the tone," Qualter said.
Qualter felt it was important to get early scores and said Kildare's shot selection was good and is also something they have also worked on.
With three games left in the campaign, Qualter would love to see a good crowd to support the lads for their next two home games. The players will just take it week by week, but Qualter pointed out that the reward is massive for everyone.
The Maynooth sharp shooter was delighted with the three lads who made their county debuts against Derry and pointed out how well they played in a recent challenge fixture. With the Joe McDonagh still to come, he feels they need the strong panel with a run of five games over a short period.
Qualter concluded by pointing out a couple of frees that he didn't convert and said he won't want it to happen again.
