Maynooth University beat the University of Galway 1-0 to claim the Collingwood Cup after an 11-year gap between wins for the Kildare university. The Collingwood Cup is the highest grade of third level soccer competition in Ireland.

Longford Town player Aaron Doran's goal six minutes into the game was enough to secure Maynooth victory as they led all the way in this massive game.

Dean O'Shea captained the side and lifted the trophy for Maynooth. The Clane man was also instrumental in setting up the crucial strike after combining with left winger Lewis MeKeon earlier in the move. The win means Maynooth have now completed a league and cup double after having a slow start to their campaign.
