Man in court for allegedly assaulting ex-partners at two Kildare locations

A man facing allegations of assaulting two ex-partners is being prosecuted at Naas District Court.

The 31 year old is being prosecuted for assault and criminal damage at Geraldine Road, Athy, on February 6, 2023 and with assault at an address in Hollywood Park, Naas, on May 8, 2022.

In one incident the injured party had two black eyes and bruising to her face and when she contacted the gardaí she said she had been assaulted seven days previously.

On one occasion the  incident allegedly occurred when she was driving the car and using a vehicle light switch.

She was allegedly struck three times and an interior mirror was broken. She sustained  bruising and a laceration to her lip.

Solicitor Brian Larkin said the defendant was "doing everything to rectify the matter.”  He added he had been in treatment for an addiction issue for 22 weeks and now volunteers at a treatment centre.

The matter was adjourned by Judge Desmond Zaidan for a victim impact statement and a probation report to be prepared.
