Naas mayor Fintan Brett said the area is not on a flood plain
A group of residents in a mature residential area have seen home insurance bills rise by €1,500 because of fears of a claimed flood risk.
It was claimed at a Naas Municipal District committee meeting by Cllr Anne Breen that people living in Mountain View on the Blessington Road were told it is on a flood plain and the residents were aware of this.
Cllr Breen said some of the houses there are 40-50 years old and the higher bills arose after water had gathered in the area.

Cllr Breen added that nearly 400 homes are being built nearby
Cllr Bill Clear said this was due to a drainage issue arising from another area. This has since been refuted by Kildare County Council.
Naas mayor Fintan Brett said a report from an engineering consulting firm had indicated that the Mountain View estate is not on a flood plain but insurance companies are trying to take advantage.
