No to speed bumps for this north Kildare residential area

'There's no record of excessive speeding'

Kildare County Council says it won’t provide speed bumps in a north Kildare residential area.

Cllr Lumi Panaite Fahey asked KCC to take the measure to reduce speeding at  Chestnut Grove in Celbridge " as a matter of urgency.

However KCC says there is “no recorded evidence of excessive speeding in Chestnut Grove to warrant the installation of a ramp in the estate.”

It added that the layout of the road  does not allow for the installation of a “vertical deflection ramp.”

This is because there is a requirement for 150 metres of a straight section of road “in advance of a ramp.”

The longest straight section of road in Chestnut Grove is 38 metres and the total length of the road there is 90m.
