KILDARE: Public vegetable gardens are to open on a trial basis

A number of small public gardens are to open in the Naas area as a pilot project.

Local councilor Ger Dunne asked for information - including the number, location, size and cost - of the sites.

These form part of a community garden strategy up to 2030.

According to KCC potential pilot sites for allotments have been identified in Mill Lane, Jigginstown Manor, St Gabriels Park, the Sallins amenity lands and at Oldbridge Manor.

KCC also said that the potential development of these sites is “subject to a number of considerations in the strategy, which also includes costs. The strategy also includes measures to manage allotments “will only be determined when and if the sites are developed.”
