Green light given for public realm works within Naas Enterprise Park, Naas, Kildare

A planning appeal that was lodged with An Bord Pleanála has upheld Kildare County Council's decision to grant planning permission for development works to the public realm within Naas Enterprise Park, Naas, Co Kildare.

According to Construction Information Services, the seven year permission includes proposed development works primarily on Lime Drive and Rowan Tree Road and adjacent to Elm Road.

The works consist of the reduction of the carriage width from 9m to 7m at selected locations as a traffic calming measure, with central line marking used elsewhere as a traffic calming measure along the primary circulation route.

Also, as part of the works, Lime Drive and Rowan Tree Road will comprise of a two-way cycle track (3m wide) on the northern sides of Lime Drive and Rowan Tree Road, thereafter 2m footpath on both sides of Rowan Tree Road to include eight crossing facilities at key points along the main carriageway.

There is also to be public lighting along Lime Drive and Rowan Tree Road, as well as three landscaped amenity nodes, with hard and soft landscape features within.

Seating areas with hard and soft landscape features are to be provided, as well as seating areas with featured canopy/shelters, and earth mounding, tree removal, tree planting and paving.

Parking provision for cyclists is to be facilitated, as well as vehicle parking (six spaces).

There will also be provision of outdoor exercise facilities.

The site area of the proposal is approximately 8.42ha.
