REVEALED: Council wants to demolish two Kildare cottages to build 30 new homes

The estimated construction value is €15m

According to Construction Information Services (CIS), a Part 8 planning application has been lodged by Kildare County Council for the construction of 30 social housing units in Kildare town.

The address of the proposed development is: An Tríantán, Station Road, Kildare Town, Co Kildare.

The 30 units are comprised of: five three-bed two-storey duplex apartments; one three-bed three-storey house; two two-bed two-storey houses; two two-bed single storey apartments; four two bed three-person single-storey apartments; six two bed two-storey duplex apartments; and 10 one-bed single storey apartments.

The proposed development also includes the construction of ancillary structures to include ESB substation and switchroom, secure cycle storage rooms;

Associated site works to include:
- Demolition of two existing cottages and associated ancillary structures on Station Road;
- Erection of new boundary treatment to south, east and north boundaries;
- New vehicular and pedestrian entrance from Station Road;
- Provision of 26 vehicle parking spaces, 54 residents' bicycle parking spaces, 16 visitor bicycle parking spaces.
- New landscaping, internal vehicular and pedestrian shared surface route, public lighting, site drainage works, ancillary site services and development works above and below ground.

The architects for the project are: Kildare County Council and Shay Cleary Architects.
