The green light has been given for the new 100 space Park and Ride facility for Kilcock.
North Kildare TD, Frank O Rourke stated Kildare County Council had completed the Part 8 planning process (public consultation) for the amenity, which was approved by the council today, and is now ready for construction.
He said this facility is very important for the town which will be positive for the public transport user and all the businesses.
“A Park and Ride location for bus and rail commuters in Kilcock, which I worked hard to deliver, has passed its final hurdle today at a meeting of the council and is now ready for construction,” he said.
“The Park and Ride is going to be located adjacent to the Lidl retail outlet in the town and will have 96 Car Parking Spaces, four disabled car parking spaces and new public lighting.”
He said construction would commence soon on the project.
“Kilcock is now included in the Shop Hop Zone for Rail commuters which had the effect of reducing the fares for commuters. I have received a commitment from Bus Eireann that additional services will be provided on Bus Route 115. As we know travelling by car to Dublin city centre is becoming more challenging and we need better public transport options than are currently available,” added Dep O’Rourke.
