The vehicle was detected by Athy Roads Policing Unit

Athy Roads Policing Unit this morning (August 25) detected a vehicle which was illegally parked in a disabled bay on Woodstock Street, Athy, Co Kildare.

Gardai determined that the disabled parking permit displayed in the vehicle was being used illegally by another person.

The permit was seized and the driver was issued with a €150 Fixed Charge Penalty Notice (FCPN).

A garda spokesperson said of the offence: “Disabled parking spaces are provided for those who genuinely need them. Using someone else’s permit illegally is selfish, unlawful and deprives those with genuine disabilities of accessible parking.

“Athy Roads Policing Unit will continue to take action against the illegal use of disabled parking permits. If it’s not your permit — don’t use it.”
