Kildare motorist caught driving at 134km/h in an 80km/h zone

The driver was stopped on the R445, Littleconnell
The European Rallycross Championship may be taking place at Mondello Park, but it seems one Kildare motorist thought the race had moved onto our public roads.
Naas Roads Policing Unit detected a driver travelling at an incredible 134km/h in an 80km/h zone on the R445, Littleconnell.
The vehicle was stopped safely by gardai.
The motorist now faces a €160 fine and three penalty points on their licence.
A garda spokesperson said of the offence: “Choosing to drive at these speeds is a deliberate decision. Public roads are not a race track. If you want to test your driving skills, book a session at the race track, not the roads shared with families, cyclists and other motorists.
“Slow down. Arrive alive and please save the racing for the track.”
