Updates in three linked Naas District Court cases concerning three teenagers involved in a car chase were heard on Thursday, January 11 last.

Back in September of last year, Garda Sergeant Brian Jacob told Judge Desmond Zaidan that gardaí saw a car speeding on a road at night-time in County Kildare, and that the car failed to stop when the gardaí indicated for the driver to do so.

It was also heard that the car was 'driving against the flow of traffic.'

Sgt Jacob added that 'a long pursuit' took place, and that it carried over into at least two different counties.

He further said that the chase came to an end when gardaí managed to seal off a part of the road that the defendants were travelling on.

Judge Zaidan refused jurisdiction over the case.

On the latest court date, a book was served by gardaí on one of the juveniles, who was accompanied to the court by his mother.

His case was sent forward to Naas Circuit Criminal Court.

The judge remanded the accused on continuing bail until his case resumes.

In the case of the second juvenile, the court was told that he could not come to court as he was sude to appear in a separate court.

The court was also told that he is currently remanded in a juvenile detention centre.

His case was adjourned to January 25.

A Section 75 application is due to take place on this date.

In the case of third and last juvenile, he was not present in the courtroom, and a book of evidence was due to be served on him by gardaí.

Defending barrister Aisling Murphy told Judge Zaidan that his own mother does not know his current whereabouts.

After hearing this, a bench warrant, which was endorsed by the judge, was issued against the juvenile.

CORRECTION: In the previous article on this case, which was published on October 2 last, it was reported: 'The teenage boy was allegedly involved in the incident as a passenger, along with one adult (the driver of the vehicle) and another juvenile (another passenger).'

In fact, the driver of the vehicle was also a juvenile. All three of the defendants are juveniles.
