A care worker who got caught between an elderly mother and her daughter was assaulted.
That’s what Naas District Court was told in an in-camera (in-private) court session on Thursday, December 17.
The woman pleaded guilty to the assault.
It was heard that the woman, who gardaí said was intoxicated at the time, insulted her mother and threatened to leave her to die in a care home.
However, this was disputed by the woman, who said that she never said this, and would 'never say anything like that (to her mother), even if I was drunk.'
The woman also admitted that she did have an issue with alcohol, and now refrains from drinking any alcoholic beverages.
Gardaí told Judge Desmond Zaidan that she had no previous convictions.
The judge applied the Probation Act on the woman, pointing to her lack of previous convictions.
He added that he was 'giving her a chance.'
