KILDARE: Eurovision winner to perform in Maynooth

Kildare: Word and music feature in Maynooth concert

St Mary's Church of Ireland, Maynooth

Eurovision winner and Classic FM hall of fame composer Eimear Quinn plays in the magnificent surroundings of St. Mary's Church of Ireland, Maynooth for her Christmas concert on December 19 at 8pm.

Eimear's voice combines with the Mamisa String Quartet and Robbie Overson on guitar.

Eimear Quinn is regarded as one of the pre-eminent Irish voices of her generation. Occupying the space where traditional meets classical and sacred, as a classically trained soprano with a background specialising in eearly and choral music, she made her international debut in 1996, when she won the Eurovision Song Contest for Ireland with the haunting ballad ‘The Voice’ written by Brendan Graham.

Since then she has explored many musical genres to develop a repertoire encompassing all of her musical loves and interests.

She now often composes music using Latin and Irish languages, and gives  ancient text and chant a new twist.

She’s also a highly respected interpreter of Irish folk and traditional song in a classical context. Tickets are available from www.ticketstop.ie for €25 plus booking fee.
