Two Rathangan sisters have launched a Guinness world record attempt to raise funds for Cara Projects, which runs a girl rescue centre in Kenya.
“We are trying to break a Guinness World Record attempt for "Longest Line of Colouring Pages". The current record is 3,895 pages,” explained Aideen Behan and her sister, Niamh Gilligan.
“Our theme for the project is, We're all Connected. We have a specially commissioned drawing, designed by local graphic design graduate Ciara Brearton. This is a fundraiser for Cara Projects. This is a registered Irish charity helping children in Kenya. One hundred percent of funds raised will be donated to the charity.”
Aideen explained that all colouring pages will be attached together to form a continuous line.
“Once all pages are attached together, we will be linking the ribbon on each page showing that we’re all connected. Irish children helping children in Kenya,” she said.
“All we ask is a €2 donation per completed page. We will be traveling to Kenya in early 2023 as part of a volunteer group. While there we will arrange for the girls in the Cara Girls Rescue Centre and also the children attending the preschool to also take part by colouring in some pages.
“These pages will then be added to those already collected."
The sisters plan to complete the attempt before St. Patrick's weekend and the final display will be available for viewing (weather permitting) that weekend.
Every effort will be made to return the pages to each school/organisation once the attempt is completed.
“If you would like to be involved please let us know how many you colouring sheets you need and we will have them sent to your school/organisation, along with some guidelines and more details on the GWR attempt and Cara Projects,” added Aideen.
“Once completed they can be returned to us, where possible we will try to collect them from you directly.”
All completed pages need to be returned by Friday December 16. This GWR attempt is not restricted to schools/organizations, anyone can take part.
