A Lotto player in County Kildare fell one number short of winning the €5,683,438 jackpot but won €795,450 after matching five numbers and the bonus ball.

The winner of the record Lotto Match 5 + Bonus prize of €795,450 bought their quick pick ticket at the Motorway Services Area, Ballynagalliagh Road, Mayfield, Monasterevin.

A delighted store manager of Junction 14 Mayfield Texaco and Spar, Robert Weldon said: “We’re delighted to have sold the winning ticket in the Spar store here. There is a great buzz about the place this morning. Once we started spreading the good news to customers there was a stampede of people in checking their tickets. It really could be anyone. Where we are, we get so much passing trade, so it really could be anyone up and down the country who is the winner. I wish them the very best.”

A National Lottery spokesperson said today: “We are appealing to all our players in Dublin and Kildare to check their tickets carefully this morning. This is amazing news for two lucky Lotto ticketholders in the East. This is the fifth Lotto Plus 1 millionaire made this year alone and it is great to have a winner of the highest match five and bonus prize in Lotto history. If you are one of these lucky winners be sure to sign the back of your ticket and get in touch with our prize claims team on 01 836 4444 and we will make arrangements for you to come to the National Lottery Winner’s Room to get your prize”.

There was no winner of last night’s €5,683,438 Lotto jackpot, which now rolls to an estimated €6.2 million for next Saturday’s draw (18th May).  Play in-store, online or using the National Lottery App on your smartphone for your chance to win.
