Following severe weather events in 2018, the Roads Department has upgraded part of its fleet and snow ploughs are available for use where required, Council said
Kildare County Council has increased its 2019 winter salting programme, effective from Monday next, January 28.
The move follows a review of their Winter Maintenance Plan, the objective of which is to keep all principal roads in the county open to traffic and free from ice.
Ten separate routes will be salted, a total of 620km of road being treated to ensure safer travel for all road users.
The additional roads will include the following: Newbridge to Clane via Carragh; Kildangan to Newtown via Kildare; Kilmeague to Prosperous, Athgarvan to Kill via Two Mile House; Celbridge to Ardclough; Brownstown Cross to Ballysax School; Eadestown to Rathmore; Ballymore Eustace to the junction with the N81.
