The funeral of former Kildare player and Ballyteague native, James (Seamus) Nugent is due to take place in New York today.

The talented footballer passed away at the age of 77 on October 18. He is the beloved husband of Nora (nee Duffy) and father to Jennifer, James and Sean, and grandfather to James. He is also survived by his siblings, Sr. Margaret Nugent, Kathleen Evans and Patrick Nugent.
Seamus had been living in Yonkers, New York, but was originally from Grange Clare Kilmeague. His funeral mass will be held today, Tuesday, October 23 at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Yonkers, NY.
A special memorial mass will take place in Allen Church this Sunday, October 28 at 10.30am.
Ballyteague GFC said he was one of the club's greatest players ever.
"A great exponent of football playing with St Mary's, Ballyteague, Kildare and New York. Our thoughts and prayers to his family at this sad time," it said on Twitter.
Former Kildare footballer Johnny Doyle also paid tribute to him.
