An Bord Pleanala turns down 46 homes for Allenwood

The houses were to be in Allenwood.

An Bord Pleanala has refused permission for 46 new homes at the Willows, Allenwood.

JAJ Construction Ltd had sought permission to build two four-bed semi-detached dormer bungalows, 32 three-bed semi-detached two storey dwellings and 12 four-bed two storey detached dwellings at The Willows in Allenwood, but were turned down by Kildare County Council last October 19.

The developer appealed that to An Bord Pleanala which just last week issued its decision to uphold the County Council’s decision.

In its published decision the Bord explained that it considered that the proposed development’s layout, scale and design, would provide for a road and estate layout which would not be conducive to pedestrian safety.

The Bord believed it would result in a significant traffic hazard for existing residents in the area and that the additional traffic would adversely affect the existing residential amenities.
