Construction of the long awaited new endoscopy unit at Naas hospital is set to start in 2019, according to North Kildare TD, Frank O’Rourke.
He has received confirmation of the news from the Health Service Executive (HSE).
“Earlier this month I put a question to the Minister for Health in relation to timeframe for the provision of an endoscopy suite at Naas hospital following the commitment in the national development plan 2019 to 2027," he said.
“The HSE have confirmed to me that the construction of the new endoscopy unit, physical medicine unit, physical therapy unit, oncology unit and day procedure at Naas General Hospital will commence in 2019.
“The project is included in the HSE’s Capital Programme and planning permission I understand has already been granted for the project. The project will be completed by 2021.”
He said the facilities needed to be developed at Naas General Hospital and he welcomed this commitment.
In the HSE's letter to Dep O'Rourke, it also stated the timetable for construction and completion would be subject to "the availability of capital funding and the progress of other priority projects."
