There will be a dry beginning to the day but rain will reach the eastern side of the country in the afternoon, according to Met Eireann.
The national weather forecaster said it will continue wet everywhere into the evening time with highs of 9 or 10 degrees in gusty southerly winds.
Tonight, rain is expected to continue for a time before clearing to scattered showers later in the night. Lowest temperatures will be 2 to 6 degrees.
