Patients are being advised to stay away from Naas Hospital today due to a high level of overcrowding at the Kildare Facility.

A statement issued by the hospital a short time ago advised members of the public to first consider going to their GP for medical assessment.

The activation of the HSE’s ‘Escalation Policy’, which advises prospective patients to first seek treatment elsewhere, occurs when the hospital experiences a high number of attendances and admittances.

It has been implemented several times already this year – on February 20, February 6, January 29 and January 22 the most recent.

The situation will be reviewed at the hospital over the coming days.
