Clearing the Naas Hospital compound and transfer of staff there was just one of a number of jobs undertake by Defence Force personnel over the past two days.

The Defence Forces have deployed 400 personnel and 155 vehicles in a range of tasks to support the civil authorities in the past 48 hours.

There are additional personnel working in support of our deployed personnel in our barracks around the country. They are currently working in support of the HSE ambulance services and medical staff transfer to support the operation of health services.

The majority of Defence Forces assets are deployed in the Kildare, Dublin and Cork areas but they have also deployed personnel and vehicles to Kerry, Louth, Westmeath, Longford, Offaly and Donegal. As well as helping with Naas hospital and other medical facilities around the country they have assisted with supporting ESB electricity reconnection in Cork, transfer of essential Met Éireann staff and provision of meals-on-wheels service in Athlone.

Defence Forces operations staff are liaising with our counterparts at National and Regional Emergency Coordination Group level advising on capabilities and resources available during the emergency period.
