The no-fly zone notice
News this morning from just up the road in Baldonnel is that the Air Corps has officially established a no flight zone around the North Pole in advance of take-off by Santa Claus.
The Air Corps posted the official notice on Facebook, explaining that Santa has “activated the Prohibited Area (P12-25) around his workshop.
“There are test flights taking place within the P12-25 following some planned maintenance on Santa's Sleigh to ensure the WPDO (Worldwide Present Delivery Operation) can proceed as planned. Take note; Operations other than toy support/delivery are prohibited in the area.”
The notice explains that the runway will be illuminated by tinsel and that groundcrew must be on the lookout for Reindeer Games during toy loading which “may interfere with flight operations”.
The notice warns that “only hoof brakes are permitted on runway” and that “flights in the vicinity may be conducted under influence of egg nog”.
