Adam Burke taking part in the Two Mile House fun run
Brave Adam Burke from Two Mile House will receive a Special Achievement at this year’s Kildare Garda Youth Awards.
The event, which celebrates the achievements of outstanding young people aged 14 to 21, from around the county, will take place at Punchestown on Friday, November 24.
Adam, then just 20, suffered a devastating stroke during a local GAA match on July 20 of last year. The doctors told family that there was a 20% chance of Adam surviving, and if he did there was a slim chance he’d walk, talk or recognise them again.
He has made phenomenal progress over the last year - but speech and physical therapies could cost up to €1 million. The Two Mile House and GAA communities turned out in their thousands on October 2 for a fundraising fun run to raise those badly-needed funds.
2FM’s Keith Walsh will MC this year’s Youth Awards event.
