Athy Hay shed fire under investigation

Gardai appeal for information

Gardai in Athy are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out in a farm shed on Sunday evening at 6pm.

The fire which may be an arson attack was started in a shed full of hay bails in Bray, Athy just off the N78 on the Castledermot road.

Gardai attended the scene and the fire service who brought the fire under control. A technical exam was carried out on the scene and gardai are looking at all CCTV in the area from between 5pm and 6pm on Sunday evening.

According to gardai it was quite a large fire which is still smoking today (Monday)

Gardai confirmed that they will be carrying out door-to-door enquiries and are appealing for anybody with any information to contact the station in Athy.

If anybody saw anybody acting suspicious or anything extraordinary on the night please contact gardai on 059 8631669.
