Cunningham's is gearing up for it's 20th annual Black Tie fundraiser night which will take place this year on November 17 next at 8pm.
To date the annual event has raised over €100,000 mostly for local charities and good causes.
This year is no exception with the Cill Dara Ladies Rugby Club and the Irish Cancer Society in association with the Kildare town Running and Tri Club as worthy recipients. The pub's Nigel Flanagan explained how it all began.
“A huge part of the idea was to give something back to our customers,” said Nigel. “And it has just grown from there and really it is about giving back to the community.”
Past recipients include the Kildare Town Christmas lights, The Silken Thomas Players, the Medieval Festival.
“It is really to help as many local causes as possible and people that we feel will benefit the most from it,” explained Rachel Flanagan, marketing manager. The goodwill extends far and wide with The Man's Shop in Newbridge offering a discount on black tie rentals for the night.
“When it comes to something like this people are great. It really marks the beginning of Christmas locally”. The tickets cost €20 each and are available to purchase from the pub.
“There will music on all three levels on the night,” added Nigel.
“There will be singers, bands, a magician, a photo booth and local make up artist Rebecca O'Sullivan will be on hand to add some glitter as well as a wine reception and canapes. Every year is a new highlight.”
