Patrick Monahan retains his Dublin City Marathon Wheelchair title

Patrick Monahan, first home for second year in a row in the Dublin City Marathon Wheelchair race today

For the thrid year in a row Kildare and Ireland’s Patrick Monahan was the first to cross the finishing line in today’s Dublin City Marathon Wheelchair race.

The popular Caragh man finished in front of his rivals in a time of 1:39:18.

Monahan competed at the Rio Olympics this season but was severely hampered after picking up a bug just days before his races.

He nevertheless showed remarkable commitment when completing the course in Rio and today he showed he has no ill effects from that experience capturing his second Dublin City Marathon Wheelchair title.

Heartiest congratulations to a magnificent athlete.
