A small army of volunteers has worked to land another gold medal for Naas in this year’s Tidy Towns competition.

Naas was the top performing town in its category, which is based on population, ahead of Newbridge, Celbridge and Leixlip.

Naas won 318 marks, which was four more than 2015.

The adjudicator who assessed the town noted that the number of volunteers has increased from 70 people to 129.

“You have a diverse group of people and your committee of twelve members has been very busy,” the adjudicator said.
