Fire service summoned to Newbridge bridge drama

Newbridge and Naas fire service called into action

Emergency services were called to aid a man, who was seen standing on the ledge of the bridge over the River Liffey in Newbridge yesterday evening.

When they arrived, he had moved away from the Liffey bridge and was taken into the care of the ambulance service.

Newbridge Fire Service was alerted to a possible rescue situation at 8.20pm. There were reports of a man standing on the wall of the bridge over the river.

Fire service personnel from Newbridge and Naas were in attendance as were the gardai and the ambulance service.

When they arrived the man was found at the Strand area. It's understood the individual in question never accessed the water.
