Celine Byrne presents the cheque for Relay for Life
Kildare’s world-renowned soprano Celine Byrne presented a cheque for €4,000 to Relay For Life, Kildare.
The money was raised at the singer’s concert last June at Newbridge’s Riverbank Arts Centre.
Celine will take time out from her international touring schedule to perform at the closing ceremony of this year’s event at the Curragh Racecourse.
Relay for Life Kildare will take place on Saturday, August 13 and Sunday, August 14.
Teams of cancer survivors, their friends, family and supporters walk in relays through the night to raise money to support the fight against cancer.
Some €85,000 was raised in Kildare last year. The organisers are still looking for volunteers to take part — if interested, please email kildarerelayforlife@gmail.com or call the commmitee chairman Peter Whyte on 087 123 2901.
