Carbury GAA are to get €54,000 for pitch development
Fifty-two projects have been approved for grants from the Drehid Grant Scheme for this year.
The grants were finally agreed at a meeting of the Maynooth and Kildare-Newbridge Municipal Districts this month.
The grants, which are the result of a planning condition deal some year back, mean that this year a total of €509,002 will be divided up.
There are some large grants, including €71,568 to Robertstown GFC towards an extension of its clubhouse.
The Allen Community Hall Trust will receive €30,150 to upgrade the hall and Lullmore Heritage and Discovery park will get €29,700 towards the extension of an existing boardwalk.
Carbury GAA club is getting €54,000 towards pitch development and Coill Dubh Hurling club will receive €77,760 for a dressing room extension.
Edenderry RFC is getting €50,490 for lights.
Michael Kenny, Acting Director of Services, said nine applications were refused.
The above fund represents €222,446 from 2014/15 and €426,544 from the 2015 fund.
He said the total intended to be awarded under the 2016 scheme is €509,002. This leaves a balance of €145,988 which will be transferred to the 2017 scheme which will be advertised in January 2017.
The Drehid Liaison Committee, which communicates with Bord na Mona over the scheme, recommended €509,002.
