Newbridge teacher Ann Marie Phelan scooped the best dressed prize on ladies day at the Curragh's Darley Irish Oaks festival last Saturday.

The Scoil Mhuire primary school teacher wore a two-piece from Vanilla Boutique in Fermoy, shoes and bag from Asos and a CKB Millinery hat.

She won a holiday for two to Las Vegas with a $500 shopping spree plus a diamond pendant from Boodles.

"I really can't believe I won and I am really thrilled," she said.

The Oaks was won by Aidan O'Brien trained Seventh Heaven, ridden by Seamus Heffernan.

The Boodles Ladies Derby, the most valuable throoughbred race for lady jockeys in Europe, was also staged on the day and was won by Helen Mooney on board the Adrian Keatley-trained Zeftan.
