Bus top in this Kildare village may be moved - as new route is built

The location of a bus stop in Johnstown, near Naas, may be changed.

Kildare County Council engineer Dónal Hodgins said while there are no plans  currently to move it, this could happen as part of the yet-to-be-built Naas-Kill active travel scheme, which will promote walking and cycling between the two towns.

Consultants will be appointed to develop design and construction documents for the scheme and the bus stop could be moved as part of the design process, provided the National Transport Authority agrees.

Cllr Fintan Brett said the NTA should be asked to have the stop shifted  from outside Johnstown House “to a more suitable location outside the Jack and Jill building in the village” adding “this will ensure space is available to provide a much-needed bus shelter.”

He told a Naas Municipal District meeting that there is no room for a bus shelter to be built in the current location and said it is beside a protected structure.
