There should be a deadline for repairing Kildare's malfunctioning public lights

Pressure is mounting for a timeframe to be established surrounding the reporting and repair of public lighting in County Kildare.

A group of Fine Gael councillors have asked that Kildare County Council set up a meeting with the ESB.

They want an agreed "streamlined reporting and tracking payment system with the ESB.

And this should include a “turnaround timeline for repairs.”

One of the councillors, Naas mayor Fintan Brett, has previously criticised ESB Networks.

“You can’t contact them,” he said, adding that when someone does get through the first question asked is “who gave you my number.”
