In light of the ongoing and forecasted weather conditions, Kildare County Council said its Winter Maintenance Plan continues to operate, with the objective of keeping all principal routes open to traffic, free from ice and safe to travel on.

For information see: https://kildarecoco.ie/AllServices/Transport/WinterMaintenancePlan.

In anticipation of events, the Council said it has now also scheduled precautionary daytime salting along the routes set out in the Winter Maintenance Plan - in addition to the routine night-time operations.

Kildare County Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team met today Saturday, January 4, to continue to monitor conditions and respond to events.

The Yellow Weather Warning remains in place for County Kildare with falls of sleet and snow, and snowfall accumulations expected.

This Weather Warning is in place from 5pm today until 5pm on Sunday.

However, with many bordering counties at an Orange Level Warning, the public in Kildare are advised to monitor Met Éireann forecasts and/or visit https://www.met.ie/ for the most up to date information. Information is available across social media platforms and other news media sources.

Kildare County Council said it will continue to monitor the situation.

In addition, Met Eireann has advised that for County Kildare from 5pm Sunday 5 January through to 11pm Thursday 9 January inclusive, continued low temperatures are forecast, with severe frost, icy patches, potential wintry showers and lying snow slow to clear in some areas.

This is likely to continue to cause hazardous travelling conditions.

The key public safety messages published by the Council yesterday, January 3, and available below, remain relevant.
