Uisce Éireann crews are working to repair a major burst to a pressure pipeline on the wastewater network in Maynooth.

Crews have been on the ground since Friday with works to this complex repair and will continue until Sunday morning.

There is a risk it may extend beyond Sunday morning due to the current weather warnings.

Regional Wastewater Senior Manager, Jonathan Deane has said “Uisce Éireann’s priorities are public health and safety and minimising harm to the environment.

"Uisce Éireann regrets this incident and any inconvenience it may have caused.

"We are working hard to resolve the situation and ensure that it does not reoccur”.

The Environmental Protection Agency have been consulted regarding the issue and remedial measures are ongoing to minimise any overflows into River Rye.
