Tenders being assessed for Mill Street Active Travel Scheme Maynooth

Tenders are currently being assessed from contractors for the provision of the Mill Street Active Travel Scheme Maynooth - Construction Works Contract.

In accordance with the provisions of Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994, Kildare County Council hereby gives notice of its intention of: Mill Street Active Travel Scheme, Maynooth, from the Main Street junction to the Kilcock Road junction.

According to Construction Information Services (CIS), the project comprises of:

- Provision of protected segregated cycle tracks on both sides of the carriageway and localised revised cycle track layout.
- Provision of shared surfaces, as per locations shown on the Section 38 drawings.
- Provision of signalised toucan crossings on all arms of Main Street junction and outside of the Manor Mills shopping centre.
- Provision of raised crossing on Pound Lane side road to prioritise pedestrian movements and for additional safety to vulnerable road users.
- Provision of two new bus stops as part of a new bus route (Tallaght to North Maynooth - Route W6. Provision of a bus shelter at the bus stop on the southbound carriageway.

There will also be relocation of the existing (two-bay) taxi rank from the north of William Bridge alongside the northbound carriageway to the south of William Bridge alongside the northbound carriageway.

Removal of six on-street parking spaces to accommodate protected segregated cycle and pedestrian infrastructure.

There will also be provision of periodic loading bay and two car parking spaces between Pound Lane and the Main Street junction.

Loading bay between 08.30am to 11.30am and monitored parking spaces between 11.30am and 8.30pm.
