Crime drama penned by Kildare writer to hit our screens

RÁ, a thrilling six-part Irish-language crime drama, written by a Kildare writer, is set to make waves when it premieres on November 11th on TG4 and on the TG4 Player / TG4.ie.

Produced by Fíbín Media in collaboration with Zoogon Ltd, this series promises a gripping story of murder, secrets, and justice in a close-knit Irish village, captivating audiences from the first episode. 

Behind the scenes, CRÁ, boasts an impressive creative team. The series was written by Kildare's Richie Conroy (Fran the Man) and Dublin's Doireann Ní Chorragáin , directed by award-winning  filmmaker Philip Doherty (Redemption of a Rogue), and produced by Ciarán Charles. Executive producers include Darach Ó Tuairisg of Fíbín Media, Máire Ní Chonláin of TG4, and Karen Kirby of BBC NI.  

An Engrossing Mystery unfolds set  in the remote northwest of Ireland, CRÁ, follows Garda Conall Ó Súilleabháin (Dónall Ó Héalaí, Monster, Foscadh) as he searches for justice in the most personal of cases—the murder of his own mother, Sabine, whose body is discovered 15 years after her disappearance. Forbidden from joining the investigation, Conall partners with a determined young journalist, Ciara-Kate (newcomer Hannah Brady), who is using her true-crime podcast to expose the village's deepest secrets. As they unravel the truth, they must confront a community bound by silence and its own moral codes. 

The series not only delves into a mystery but also explores the power of modern media, as every twist of the investigation is broadcast to a growing audience through Ciara-Kate's podcast. The question remains: Will truth prevail, or will some secrets stay buried forever? 

An All-Star Cast and Award-Winning Creative Team Headlining the cast are Dónall Ó Héalaí, Alex Murphy (The Young Offenders), and Hannah Brady in her breakout role as Ciara-Kate. Supporting them is a talented ensemble including Barry McGovern (Obituary), Róisín Murphy (Vikings), Tara Breathnach (Borderline, Dune2), Caoimhe Farren (The Woman in the Wall), and Alan Mahon (King Frankie). 

CRÁ was made possible by cross-border collaboration with international reach produced by Fíbín Media in collaboration with  Zoogon Ltd. NI.  CRÁ was commissioned by TG4 and BBC Northern Ireland, with generous support from Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, Coimisiún na Meán, and Northern Ireland Screen’s Irish Language Broadcast Fund. The series was also made possible with the support of  the Irish Tax Incentive for Creative Screen. In addition to its local and cross-border appeal, CRÁ has secured an international distributor with APC (About Premium Content) serving as the worldwide distributor, positioning the series as an exciting entry into the growing trend of foreign-language crime dramas with global appeal.
