A male Springer/Lab cross called Sam went missing in August. He had been well looked after in a foster home in Kill.
He came originally from an animal shelter in the midlands.

Something spooked Sam and he disappeared into the night. There were sightings all along the N7 and at Citywest, Rathcoole and Athgoe. The animal loving community in Kill along with our own volunteers carried out several searches by day and night.
Every time Sam was spotted, he would vanish again. People made great efforts to make sure there was food left out for him, which kept him healthy.

He got chicken, rashers and sausages, but trying to catch him was just not happening. As he was too afraid to engage with any humans, Claire Manley of Cara Rescue Dogs gave us a loan of a dog trap. After a month of living in the wild, Sam was caught and brought to the vet. He is safe and well now and back in foster care thanks to the huge team and community effort to bring him home.

Sparky is another example of the kindness that people show to helpless animals. This tiny kitten was spotted all alone in Kilcullen on a very wet night recently.

Volunteers from our cat team spent hours trying to bring him to safety. Without their efforts he would not have survived as he was cold, and had no mother, or any food.

He is in great health now and being cared for in one of our foster homes. Finally, a kitten that was found near the Naas ball in August is off to her new home this week.

She was discovered by two women who were out walking and spotted her in the long grass beside the Naas Ball. It looks like she had been dumped there.
