Mr Heydon said: “Following an incredible summer of sport, this unprecedented Government investment in our Community Sports Facilities is recognition of the great work that our local sports clubs do within our communities, and of our efforts to improve the facilities we have on our doorsteps here in Kildare.
"As a former volunteer secretary of a local sports club myself, I know of the work and effort committees and many volunteers put into the application process and the transformative impact this funding can have for local sporting organisations.
“I would like to congratulate and commend all of the volunteers across these clubs and community groups who worked on these applications and give of their time freely to their local sports clubs. It has been a pleasure to work with and support many of you through this process”."
