Fined €1,000 for verbally abusing gardaí in Ballymany region of Newbridge, County Kildare

A man was fined €1,000 by a Naas District Court judge over an incident in which he verbally abused gardaí in the Ballymany region of Newbridge.

Judge Desmond Zaidan made the decision to fine Nicolae Hanganu, with an address listed as 259 The Oaks in Newbridge, on Thursday, September 19 last.

Gardaí told the judge that on September 1 last, the 28-year-old got involved in an argument with gardaí while he was intoxicated.

At one point during this incident, he told gardaí: "I know the law, f**k off."

Gardaí also told the judge that Mr Hanganu has 12 previous convictions, five of which are related to public disorder offences.

Judfe Zaidan decided to impose a €1,000 fine on Mr Hanganu for the offence, and ordered it to be paid within three months.
