Work has started on 2,300 homes in Kildare so far this year

Work has started on a total of 2,325 homes across Kildare from January to the end of August this year.
Figures from the Department of Housing also showed there were 2,264 homes commenced in August 2024.
For the first eight months of 2024 (January-August), there were 37,622 homes commenced.
This is a 76% increase on the 21,316 in those months in 2023.
This equates to on average 224 homes commenced every working day to the end of August.

In the last 12 months (September 2023 to August 2024) there have been 49,107 units commenced, up 66% from 29,565 in the prior 12 months (September 2022 to August 2023).
Of all units commenced in the first eight months of 2024 (Jan-August), 34% were in the four Dublin local authorities.
By local authority, the most units commenced this year so far have been in Dublin City (5,321) followed by Fingal (3,612) and Cork City (3,598).
The lowest number of units commenced have been in Leitrim (52), Longford (83) and Roscommon (131).
